Application to Join the Introduction to Leading Water Ice Course

Thanks for your interest in joining the Introduction to Leading Water Ice course. This course is intended for club members who have solid basic ice climbing skills gained from either alpine or water ice climbing experience. We have very limited space so we will be selecting participants from the pool of applicants with an eye for those who are best prepared to get the most out of the course. We wish we could accept everyone but we have limited volunteer resources.

Please do not be intimidated or read too much into the number and nature of the questions in this application. We just want to be able to assess whether you're ready, and if accepted, to know your background so we can personalize your instruction. If you do not get accepted into the course there are a number of other avenues that you can pursue to continue your ice climbing and learning.... here are some suggestions.

  1. Come to the Water Ice Mixer on Thu Nov 5. It's a fun evening of socializing with other ice climbers and meeting potential partners.
  2. Sign up for the Mt Baker Ice Play Days on Oct 24 or 25 -- a great opportunity for practicing skills and networking with potentail partners.
  3. Participate in some of the Water Ice outings. You don't need to have completed this or other courses to join many of our climbs (although some do have restrictions). All we ask is that you limit your level of participation to whatever is reasonable for you and your partner based on your experience level and knowledge.
