Updates The following is a list of committee milestones and additions to this website, ordered from most recent to least recent. 04/062006 At the April 6 meeting of The Mountaineers Board of Trustees, the group voted on two important issues facing the club. On the agenda were the approval of a lease with the City of Seattle for the Building 67 property at Magnuson Park, and the sale of The Mountaineers Building. The board voted 13 to 7 in favor of approving the lease with the City of Seattle. In a separate motion, the board then approved the sale of the building by a vote of 16 to 4. These votes came one year after the Building Advisory Committee submitted their recommendations to the board. 03/08/2006 At the March 6 Seattle City Council meeting, the members voted to approve the Magnuson Park lease between the City of Seattle and The Mountaineers. Their decision was based on the recommendation of the Parks, Education, Libraries and Labor Committee which met on March 1. The Mountaineers Board of Trustees has yet to approve the lease with the City. The BoT is expected to vote on whether to approve the lease or not at their April 6 meeting. The City of Seattle's ordnance approving the lease and the text of the lease is available online at the City's website. The Mountaineers have a purchase agreement for the current Seattle clubhouse property, good until April 15, for $4,500,000, plus a $100,000 donation to The Mountaineers, plus a $75,000 donation to The Mountaineers contingent upon signing the agreement by March 15. The $75,000 donation was lost when the BOT voted to postpone approval until their April 6 meeting. The terms of the purchase agreement also allow us to stay in our current facility rent free for two (2) years with an option to renew for a third year. |
