WINTER IS COMING TO STEVENS PASS
The fall colors are fading as the misty gray rains of winter creep into the lowlands. In the high country, fresh snow can be seen glistening on the surrounding peaks. More snow will follow and Stevens Lodge awaits the start of a new winter season. The Farmers Almanac says that we will have exceptional snow this year so make your plans to enjoy it. Many thanks to those of you who came to the fall work parties! Your assistance in the care and maintenance of the lodge makes a big impact. To those of you that didn't come.......well, I guess we could always assign double chores during your stay...... :)
The lodge has been freshened up and there will be a new start on the Lost and Found supply for the season. The commissary supplies have been re-stocked and for all you oatmeal lovers out there more of Bob's Red Mill Old Fashioned Oats has been acquired. Special Note: to the person who lost a vest with a special bicycle pin on it, your pin has been found. Contact the lodge chairman for additional information.
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN COOKING OR HOSTING FOR THE LODGE? If there is sufficient interest, we will have a seminar on November 11th. We hope to have a King Co Health Instructor available so attendees that want a Food Handlers Permit will be able to take the test and get one. Richard Botts, Stevens Lodge's famous chef will be on hand to provide cooking tips such as figuring out how much food to buy, some successful menus and recipes, easy breakfast ideas and more. If you are interested, contact Don Preston, 425-489-9608 to sign up. (Note: this event is not listed for sign-up on the Mountaineers website)
ULLR is coming!
If snow and weather conditions permit, the lodge will open for the winter season the weekend of Thanksgiving. Get out your calendars and start planning your winter weekends at Stevens Pass. Back by popular demand, Advance Registration is available to make reservations more than a month in advance. Like normal registration, you must pay in advance for your stay. See the details on the Advance Registration form found in the Go Guide. You can also request a copy from Member Services. Start planning now for the week between Christmas and New Years and sign up early. Enjoy the slopes before the crowds hit in January. If conditions permit, the lodge will open Friday afternoon, Nov. 24th for Thanksgiving weekend. No meals will be served on Friday, but a Friday night stay includes breakfast Saturday morning. If you stay Saturday night, your lodge fee includes dinner at 6:30 Saturday night and breakfast on Sunday. No lunches are provided so you must bring your own or eat at one of the ski area facilities. With Ullr's blessings, the lodge will open each weekend after Thanksgiving for the remainder of the season. If you are planning on staying or visiting the lodge over Thanksgiving weekend, check with the clubhouse sign-up line on Wednesday, Nov. 22nd to confirm the lodge will be open.
You can check out the Stevens Lodge website for late breaking news and information, including lodge closures due to weather or road conditions. If you are interested in becoming one of Ullr's helpers, see the information on the Stevens Lodge website. To access the Stevens Lodge website, go to the Mountaineer website main page, www.mountaineers.org, click on Lodges, click on Stevens, then click on page. For more information about Stevens Lodge, contact Don Preston, 425-489-9608.

Parking in Lot #4:
Stevens Pass is continuing their parking program for this year. Parking in Lot 4, the uppermost parking lot, where lodge guests typically park, will have a $10 parking fee. Fortunately, the ski area has made an accommodation for Mountaineers that stay overnight at Stevens Lodge. If you are registered to stay at Stevens Lodge, you may park in Lot 4 at no charge. This free parking privilege for Lot 4 is only available to Mountaineer members that are registered to stay at Stevens lodge. Regretfully, the free parking privilege is not available to members for day use or non-members that stay at Stevens Lodge. You must be a Mountaineer member and registered for an overnight stay at Stevens Lodge to park for free in Lot 4. Simply show your Mountaineer membership card to the Stevens Pass parking attendant at Lot 4 and if you are registered for that night you can park for free. Since the parking program is administered solely by the Stevens Pass ski area, the lodge host will not be able to assist you if you have forgotten or misplaced your membership card. If you don't have your Mountaineer membership card with you or you are not registered to stay at Stevens lodge, you will need to pay the parking attendant the $10 daily parking fee to park in Lot 4.
Overview:
Nestled among the trees at Stevens Pass, rustic Stevens Lodge offers a comfortable cozy place located right next to Steven Pass Ski Area. The lodge's 4,400 foot elevation creates excellent snow conditions for which the area is famous. From the lodge door, members and their guests can ski down to the nearest chairlift with little effort, and from the Brooks or Skyline Express lifts you can ski back to the lodge -- a great situation for any skier or snowboarder. Backcountry skiers have a variety of interesting tours nearby. The Nordic Center in Mill Valley has 30 kilometers of groomed double tracks with a skating lane.
Accommodations include a cozy lounge area with a large fireplace, a dining area where members spread out for games, reading after dinner; four dormitories for men, women, couples and families; a drying room for wet ski clothes and gear; ski storage; washrooms; restrooms and showers. There is also a workbench with an iron where you can sharpen, ptex and wax (wax not included) your own skis or snowboards! What more could you want?
Hot beverages are always available. There is free overnight parking in a lighted and snowplowed lot about 200 yards from the lodge. The lodge is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the ski season as well as extra holidays and selected mid-weeks. Check the Go Guide for specific dates and details.
There are generally no meals served on Friday nights. A light breakfast is included in the Friday overnight price. Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast are included in the fee for a Saturday overnight. The full weekend rate includes a special price break for members. The lodge does not serve lunches, but brown bags are welcome, and food can be purchased at the nearby ski area lodges.
