Running the kitchen for a weekend YOU’VE BEEN ASKING FOR THEM SO NOW WE’RE GOING TO GIVE THEM TO YOU. What’s that? Indoor showers and other lodge improvements! Last summer the lower floor of the lodge was expanded to provide room for two showers a storeroom and a future restroom. The expanded area has been enclosed and the interior framing has almost been completed. Our goal is to complete the showers and storage area as well as some of the interior improvements in the older portion of the building prior to the beginning of our summer season, mid July. Additionally, we want to repair, as needed, and paint the exterior of the building. This is an ambitious plan but we are confident it can be completed if we have your help. We are planning on several work parties that include one good day of work and one day of fun. We can ski, snowshoe, hike or just hang out and read; your choice depending on the weather and the snow. The lodge will be open Friday evenings until Sunday mid-afternoon.  Your lodging costs will be covered by the Mt Baker Lodge Committee and will include Saturday & Sunday breakfast, Saturday lunch and dinner. We’re looking for volunteers with skills in carpentry, wallboard installation, taping & mudding, tile & laminate installation, plumbing, electrical and paint prep (either as a leader or as an assistant) or you can be part of the support team helping with meals. Please look at these dates and see if any of them would work for you and sign up now. Dates for work party: May 1-3 and June 5-7 (Fri. p.m. – Sun. afternoon) To volunteer for the work party and to stay at the lodge please register through the Mountaineers web site www.mountianeers.org (activity lodges) or call the clubhouse at 206-521-6001. For more information please contact Shannon Marie, Thomas Jolley or Dale Kisker by the email address mtbakerworkparty@comcast.net . Here we’ll answer questions about, sequencing the trades, tools and materials required and other preparations. Would you like to help run a lodge for a weekend?
