| Description: NEW CLASS!!! The Everett Mountaineers Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Committees are offering a course in winter camping. It will consist of two nights of lectures, 6:30 – 9:00 PM, Wed. February 3 and Wed. February 17, with an overnight field trip February 20 & 21. Our lectures will include a review of clothing and equipment, winter hazards, snow travel and winter camping techniques. Since our course will only offer a brief review of clothing, equipment, and avalanche awareness, we require that all students have graduated from a snowshoe, skiing, basic climbing, or scrambling course. Others who wish to take the course may attended with leader permission, and must show that they have an equivalent background in mountaineers sports, and have sufficient knowledge of proper clothing, the 10 essentials, and some avalanche training.
This course is offered to both snowshoers and skiers, and our field trip will be appropriate for each. Participants must be competent at one of these since we will not be covering these skills.
