This is an AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course.The course is oriented towards backcountry users skiers,snowboarders,climbers,scramblers & snowshoers. The course introduces the avalanche phenomena and is more than an avalanche awareness course. It covers planning,terrain selection,the human factor," red flag" observations, campanion rescue.It is a basic hazard management course and uses rules based tools in combination with introdutory knowledge based decision making tools.The course is alone course,but provides a great link to a AIARES Level 2 avalance course. The course is 3 nite lectures and a 2 day field trip. 12/2, 12/9, 1/6 & field trip 1-9/10-10 We will take late sign ups on the first nite if there is room.
