Leader Notes:
This is an AIARE Level 1 Avalanche Course.The course is oriented towards backcountry users skiers,snowboarders,climbers,scramblers & snowshoers. The course introduces the avalanche phenomena and is more than an avalanche awareness course. It covers planning,terrain selection,the human factor," red flag" observations, campanion rescue.It is a basic hazard management course and uses rules based tools in combination with introdutory knowledge based decision making tools.The course is alone course,but provides a great link to a AIARES Level 2 avalance course. The course is 3 nite lectures and a 2 day field trip. 12/2, 12/9, 1/6 & field trip 1-9/10-10 We will take late sign ups on the first nite if there is room. We have reserved the MT Baker Lodge for student that want to stay overnite the cost and revervation info will be given on the first nite For complete info see the Go Guide or the Everett Branch website everettmountaineers.org
